Carey

Took some photos of an old friend from Berklee this evening.  She was one of the first people I met at school, I haven’t seen her in 10 years, and she’s an excellent vocalist working on her latest record as we speak.

Phil Dubnick

Way back in the day (well about 12 years ago), I was in music school up in Boston and there was a talented songwriter name Phil Dubnick. I’m pretty sure I produced a song of his for a project of mine, including a 1 minute fade out of a single piano chord a la “A Day in the Life. Well, yesterday I caught up with him to say hello and took some portraits.  It was early afternoon on a sunny day.  Just about the least fun light you could imagine, but with a fold-able diffuser or a little shade, you can make it work. The results below.

Also, I get a lot of emails asking about my look and how their photos don’t look like that out of the camera. Well neither do mine, as you can see by the untouched version I posted below.

BusinessWeek – Marcarthur

BusinessWeek called me last monday evening, and so Meg and I went and shot Marcarthur the next day with final images delivered on Wed morning.  Quick turn-around job for me and for them apparently, because it ran in today’s issue.  Here’s a scan, along with the original and an alternate I liked (something about the tilt of his head).

David

All of you who read my blog have read the multiple posts about the press that’s going out of business downstairs from my apartment.  Well, I went and shot some portraits of David Harris who has run the place which his father and grandfather ran before him.  Here are the results.

Press Stuff

The printing company that’s going out of business after 100 years is at it again.  I walked out today to find stacks of type trays out on the sidewalk awaiting a truck to take them away. Ran upstairs, grabbed my camera, and voila
