Drabbles | October 8 – Cynthia Smith

This one was tough and really time consuming.  The most “set up” of them so far.  A fair amount of pre-production and a whole lot of post.  Who knew it would be so hard to find one of those clear umbrellas in NYC?  <falls asleep typing>

Two more Drabbles

Sorry for the dearth of posts lately, I’m deep in the thick of my October Drabbles project that is taking over what’s left of my mind.  I do have some thoughts on the process that I’ll share when I’m done, but I would like to mention that doing 6-8 hours a day projects every day makes time go much more slowly than normal.  My first shoot was exactly a week ago and it feels like it’s been at least 2 or 3.

Anyway, here are the two from the last couple of days Henry LaFarge and Francois Morisson. Click through to see them large. Please comment at http://www.billwadman.com/drabbles/

Drabbles | October 2 – Sangraal Aiken

A couple portraits from the Leica

I had a roll of film in my Leica for a few months now. A few shots here or there and been meaning about finishing up the roll and getting it processed.  So today I did that and here are a couple shots of my friends Dave and Tracie.  I normally do a lot of processing to finish my photographs, so sometimes it’s nice to do things old skool.

My First Book Cover

The first book with my photograph on the cover was released this week and so I went and picked up a copy at B&N this morning. I shot Regan Hofmann on her horse Cookie, as well as her author photos late last fall.  Regan is the Editor In Chief of POZ magazine and this book is her memoir.   Special thanks to Kevin Traylor for assisting me on this one, even if that meant trying calm, feed, or hold onto a horse that didn’t want to sit still.

Lunch with Logan

Well, another lunch date with Logan means another chance to shoot my beautiful and delightful friend.

Mary’s Head

Tom Janovitz

A couple shots from my Sunday session with Tom Janovitz up in Boston

Improper Bostonian: Eric Gaskins

Here’s a scan of my portrait of the delightful fashion designer Eric Gaskins from last weeks Improper Bostonian.  Below is another shot from the sitting that I liked a lot.

HAC in an old Chevy

For those interested in the lighting setup…  two speedlights, one behind the car into an umbrella to spread it out. The other bare and on the dashboard of the car with it’s beam focused down a bit.  35mm lens.
